A music video is a short video that accompanies a complete piece of music/song.
Music videos use a wide range of styles of filmmaking techniques, including animation, live action filming, documentaries, and non-narrative approaches such as abstract film. Some music videos blend different styles, such as animation and live action.
The purpose of this assignment is for the student filmmaker to experiment with a longer form of video. This assignment lends itself towards experimentation. That experimentation could take the form of filters, different styles, and techniques.
Assignment:
- Download the video script, and have your idea pre-approved by me . To do this, download the script format below and fill it in with your ideas.
- Film your music video
- Edit your music video
- Complete the music video script by by April 17 , 2015. Each student must turn in a music video script.
- Complete shooting by May 8, 2015. Shooting may happen in teams or not.
- Complete editing by May 22, 2015, ready for screening. Editing may happen in teams or not.
- The music video should be compelling and maintain interest through the whole song. No shot should last longer than 4 beats.
